We have been working on a OS X desktop version of AD HelpDesk. If you are interested in a little sneak peak, read on.
The feature set of AD HelpDesk for OSX desktop is similar to the feature set of AD HelpDesk when it was first released for iPhone in April of 2010. Initially you will be able to:
Find and unlock locked accounts
Enable or disable accounts
Reset passwords
Force Reset at next login
Find accounts with expired passwords
Some features that are currently in the iPhone/iPad version will not be available initially. Notably group and computer management won't be included. Additionally the ADSI like general attribute editor won't be available.
There are some cool features that don't really work on the iPhone version though, for example if you are bound to AD with your OSX desktop and you are currently logged in with a AD user, we automatically use your AD account credentials to perform administration tasks. Basically we support single sign on.
You can also export the results of user searches as tab delimited text if you have a need to import your search results into a spreadsheet.
Since a picture is worth a thousand words, here is screenshot of what we are planning to release for beta consumption:
We are currently looking for a few users who might be interested in beta testing prior to our initial release. If you are interested in being a beta tester please send an e-mail to
support@implbits.com. The beta version will of course be completely free. We are just looking for feedback, environmental testing.
